GetEpic! with FREE online books for kids

I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been working on creating an online tutoring program for former refugee kids. While doing so I learned about a cool and FREE! website with well known titles for kids such as

and other lesser known titles. It’s called GetEpic.com, and I have enjoyed reading books on it that we are going to be using for the tutoring program. I thought I would share one per grade.

First Grade

The Beloved classic:

The story of a boy who uses his imagination and his purple crayon to draw his way out of jams.

2nd Grade

Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns by Hena Khan. A beautiful and easy to understand beginning book about Islam.

3rd Grade

When something goes awry in grandma’s cooking the guisado de pulpo (octupus stew), Ramsey has to save the day!

4th Grade

Great first chapter book. A likable Orwellian tale of surveillance and testing in the schools where a robot student allowed to attend school with humans for the first time works on fitting in.

5th Grade

A fun read about a hidden menagerie struggling to protect gryphons, unicorns and other magical creatures. A cast of likable characters work together to protect these amazing beasts.

I really appreciate Getepic.com’s and the authors’ generosity in making reading available to kids and teachers during this difficult time. A great way for my son to get on zoom, screen share and share reading time with his grandparents. and for kids to have a chance for one on one support in addition to help with their online schoolwork.

Happy Learning!
