Wanna perform?

Storytime Cabaret, an eclectic group of aerial, reality storytelling, drag, burlesque performers and musicians who come together at different venues in Atlanta and beyond, successfully launched at the end of May. Launching something new on the tail end of Covid has been quite the adventure, but we managed to pull off a sold out show for our launch. Get your tix for our show this Saturday July 17th at 7:30 pm OUTSIDE (outside bar!) at Waller’s at 240 Dekalb Industrial Way, Decatur, GA 30030 here :

Check out highlights from our launch:

Then suddenly, going from our first show at a small outside, local venue, we were asked to perform the half time show for Pride Night for the Atlanta Dream professional women’s basketball team. With little time to prepare and some major hurtles (which I am going to tell the story of for our next show this Saturday July 17th OUTSIDE at Waller’s Coffee Shop) we pulled it off and made a gay ole time of it.

This Saturday we are having an outside show (with an outside bar!) at Waller’s CoffeeShop located at 240 Dekalb Industrial Way, Decatur, GA 30030. The setting is lovely…in the forest and it feels like there are fairies there which is why we called the show Wings.

And what an incredible line up we have for you!!! Let’s start with the storytellers. Well, there’s me but I’m not going to blow my own horn. You’ve read my blog so you know how I am. There’s the unforgettable Cola Rum. I first saw Cola Rum twenty years ago at an open mike at Java Monkey. He performed a slam poem that was so good, my jaw was on the floor, and even though I never ran into him again, I never forgot about it. Then, a couple of years ago I attended the Moth Atlanta (a reality story telling event) for the first time, and there he was, proving to the city by winning the Moth Grand Slam (the biggest contest) that in spoken word, storytelling and writing, he is the best of the best.

Next, we are excited to introduce Stacey Beth Shulman: Stacey is a native of Atlanta, even if her accent doesn’t always sound like it. She has told stories for Creative Loafing, The Museum of Design Atlanta, and The Southern Order of Storytellers, as well as Carapace and the Atlanta Moth Up. Stacey is not just a raconteur on stage. As a yoga therapist, she helps people discover the stories held within their body. When she is not on the mat, Stacey enjoys making art, bird watching, and taking photos of her 2 cats, Willow and Olive, when they let her.

Offering vocal performance and dance, we are thrilled to have Inyoni N’kosi. A performance by Inyoni N’Kosi is a joy filled experience that you will not forget. Inyoni is a Georgia Renaissance and burlesque performer and professional musician and writer who expands the niche of queer, black heroes.

We are so excited to welcome Flux Inqueerior to the show! Flux Inqueerior is The Spicy Hotpot of Atlanta, serving a piping steamboat of queer, nonbinary Asian neo-burlesque, seasoned with classical, comedic, sultry, and hot hot HOT flavors!  The Imperial THEMperor, Flux has reigned over stages throughout the southeast USA, having performed burlesque for nearly a decade. They are also a student of traditional Chinese dance, a sacred and classical art they occasionally incorporate into their movement and storytelling.

And we have the unforgettable Gunza Blazin. She is the Czarina at Crown Magnolia Court of Georgia
The first drag court in Georgia. There are over 60 drag courts in North America. This drag court works to unite queens to better the local LGBTQ+ community. Being part of the court entails being an active member of the community, performing, and fundraising. She is also a fully professed sister of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence:
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry and outreach.
